Who is responsible?
MorpheOS Ltd operates Sideperk and is responsible for the personal information described here. Contact details: 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX or hello@sideperk.co.uk.
Reading the site
Cloudflare hosts and protects this website. Requests include technical information such as your IP address, browser information, requested page and time. This is used to deliver pages, investigate faults and protect the service. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a reliable and secure publication. We do not use these records to build advertising profiles.
Sideperk also uses Google Analytics in cookieless mode to count page views and understand which pages are read. Because measurement consent has not been requested, Google Analytics sets no cookies and no Google ad signals are used. Google receives the page address, browser and device information and an approximate region derived from your IP address, and does not build an advertising profile from this measurement. We rely on our legitimate interest in understanding which parts of the site are useful. Google’s processing may take place outside the UK; Google’s privacy notice and data processing terms describe the safeguards.
The subscription calculator runs in your browser. Sideperk does not receive or store the prices you enter.
Contact and corrections
If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any information you choose to include. MXroute provides our email service. We use correspondence to answer questions, assess submissions and investigate corrections, relying on our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact the publication. For steps you request towards a commercial agreement, we may also process information to enter into or perform that contract. Passwords, payment details and unnecessary sensitive information are not needed for enquiries.
We keep correspondence while it is needed to deal with the enquiry and any follow-up or dispute. We review closed enquiries and remove information no longer needed. A continuing business relationship or legal obligation may require a longer record. You can ask us about retention for your enquiry.
Signup and tracking
If you request The Side Piece, we send a confirmation email. You join the mailing audience only after confirming. We store your email address, subscription status and consent record in our self-hosted Listmonk service; Twilio Email delivers the messages. We rely on your consent for the newsletter. Every edition includes an unsubscribe link; cancellation is also available by contacting us. We keep an unsubscribe or suppression record to avoid sending again. Unconfirmed subscriptions are reviewed and removed after 30 days. Temporary keyed rate-limit identifiers help prevent abuse; raw email addresses and IPs are not stored in those counters, which are removed on a subsequent signup after the day changes. Online enquiry forms remain disabled. Emailing us does not subscribe you to marketing. The site does not install advertising pixels; the cookieless Google Analytics measurement is described above.
The private editor area uses Cloudflare Access to check the authorised editor’s email address. Its authentication cookies keep that sign-in session secure; public readers do not need an editor account.
Service providers and international processing
Cloudflare and MXroute process relevant information to provide hosting, security and email. For the newsletter, our self-hosted Listmonk service manages subscriptions and Twilio Email processes delivery. Twilio’s privacy notice and data protection terms describe its processing and transfer safeguards. Their infrastructure and support may process data outside the UK. Your choices and rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or a copy of your information, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. We do not make decisions about you using automated profiling. The contact details above are available for these requests. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
